Khimsar Fort

Khimsar Fort is set in sand dunes and is off the beaten track. Twenty-one generations of Karamsot Rathor direct lineage have been the residents of Khimsar Fort. It was made in 1523 by Rao Karamsji, eighth son of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. He selected Khimsar, to be close to Jodhpur where one brother resided and Bikaner, the fiefdom of another brother.

Now, a grand hotel that is managed by the royal family itself, Khimsar Fort has been awarded the 'Grand Heritage Award for Excellence' by the Tourism Board of the Government of India.

Eleven acres of green lawns surround the fort building. The fort has been refurbished to include modern plumbing and all facilities associated with comfort. Its sixty rooms have decor ranging from traditional to art deco. Some of the rooms even have private terraces and balconies.

Everything that maybe needed for a self-contained vacation is available at Khimsar Fort.  Grass field for playing soccer and cricket, Camel and horse riding, Golf driving range and putting green, Home theatre (DVD projection with DTS Dolby and Prologic Sound Systems), Swimming pool, Yoga, sauna steam bath, health club and tennis court are just some of the choices. You do not have to step outside your hotel to entertain yourself, if you do not want to.

Theme dinner, rooftop lunch with folk dances, puppet show and magic show are also organized. The meals are from Continental and Indian cuisine with Rajasthani specialties and the hotel also has a Bar.
